Despite many other amazing features, most of the world knows Augusta, Georgia for one thing: The Augusta National golf course. Every year during the first week of April, golf professionals and their fans come from each corner of the Earth to experience what we call “The Masters Tournament.” Bobby Jones, a golfer himself, and Clifford Roberts, an astute investment banker from New York, got together to help fund and construct the course in 1933 on a 365-acre plant nursery. Finally, from 1934 onwards, the history of golf changed for the better.
The Augusta National course is notable for its year-round pristine condition. It’s unable to see just by driving by, but the course is evergreen. It contains beautiful architecture and overflows with colorful blossoms. As inviting as it sounds, membership is by invitation only and seems to cost anywhere between $100,000 and $300,000. You can apply online for tickets (“badges”) to The Masters Tournament, for an actual tournament day or just the practice rounds. You must purchase any badges in advance. Don’t fret if you are having a hard time trying to get a badge. It’s been claimed that The Masters is the second-hardest sporting event to get into – just behind the Super Bowl!
Hospitality Venues Near The Masters in Augusta, Georgia
If you are visiting the CSRA, the Central Savannah River Area, and attending The Augusta National golf course this year, let us highlight some unforgettable hospitality venues. You won’t won’t want to miss these!
Berckmans Place
Many consider themselves lucky to score tickets to The Masters tournament. Out of the hundreds of thousands of patrons that attend, only a select group can be approved by the Augusta National to attend Berckmans Place. This VIP club, if you will, is a 90,000 square foot, multilevel hidden gem behind the fifth fairway. There are five restaurants, a pro shop, and arguably the most mind-blowing feature of Berckmans, three putting greens that replicate the 7th, 14th, and 16th greens on the course. Grab a putter and put your skills to the test!
Entry to Berckmans Place is said to cost $6,000 per ticket. Although, some sources now quote the price to be as high as $10,000 per ticket. There is a ten-ticket limit.
Map & Flag
Map & Flag just opened for the first time in 2024. While Berckmans Place is amazing, this new attraction has quickly become the new craze of The Augusta National. The tournament badges for 2025 will grant access to this establishment, which is their first and only hospitality experience located outside of the course grounds. Located across Washington Road from the North Gate of the course, Map & Flag offers a variety of food options.
If you visited Map & Flag last year, be sure to give it another shot this year. First, be sure to come see the newly expanded second floor. Shuttles will be available to keep patrons from having to walk across Washington Road, ensuring a better, safer experience. Besides the multitude of culinary options to please your palate, within this venue you will also find a merchandise shop, an outdoor area with televisions, bars, and games.
Information About the Augusta National Golf Course
Golf connoisseurs often pride themselves in knowing the intricate details and special features of this course. Each hole is named after a tree or shrub, such as Pink Dogwood (#2) and Azalea (#13). So, for example, on hole #2, you will see Pink Dogwoods. Then, as you move along, you will see Azalea’s on hole #13.
Other features include Amen’s Corner, one of the most recognizable parts of the course. Many golfers have great luck in this beautiful three-hole stretch. There is also a three-acre pond on the course, Ike’s Pond, which is named after former US President Dwight D Eisenhower. He wanted a place to fish, and therefore the Augusta National founder Clifford Roberts made his wish come true, right by holes #8 and #9.
